Description

This is the Standard Model with attached loading lever and steel grip straps. It has a rare 4-inch barrel (less than 2% of all manufactured), 5 shot, .31 caliber pocket revolver manufactured in 1856. The barrel has a two-line address and the serial number 112xxx matches on the bottom of gun, cylinder and loading lever. The grips are original; the cylinder is engraved with a stagecoach scene. The revolver and matching holster are in very good condition.

Both revolver and holster belonged to Colonel George Gibbs Dibrell, from Sparta, Tennessee, who was commander of the 8th Tennessee Cavalry, Confederate States of America. Col. Dibrell served from 1861 to 1865 and rose to the rank of Brigadier General of the 25th Unit Tennessee Infantry Command. He subsequently served as a Democrat member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1875 to 1885. Flayderman No.5B-044 (fine)
